Pickup: the oil change indicator in the instrumennt cluster..6.0L

This answer was rated:

How do you reset the oil change indicator in the instrumennt cluster on a Chevy HD2500 pickup (new body style) with a 6.0L engine? I change my oil every 3000 to 4000 miles and need to reset this feature?
this should reset it for you
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change the engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Anytime the oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where the oil is changed prior to a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message being turned on, reset the system.

If the vehicle does not have a Driver Information Center (DIC), do the following:

  1. Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine OFF.
  2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.
  3. Turn the key to OFF. If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message comes back on when you start the vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

If the vehicle has a DIC, do the following:

  1. Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine OFF.
  2. Press the MODE button until the DIC reads OIL LIFE LEFT/HOLD SET TO RESET.
  3. Press and hold the SET button until 100 percent is displayed. You will hear three chimes and the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message will go off.
  4. Turn the key to OFF.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message comes back on when you start the vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
