Customer Question

2002 chevy silverado 1500 4wd 5.3l v8, installed new fuel pump and fuel filter, checked voltage during start and have 12 volts, I checked for any blockages and there are none within the lines. can hear fuel pump run for two second upon ignition on and then turns off. I am not building any pressure in the fuel lines and no fuel is present coming out of the pump. any suggestions? when truck stopped working i was at idle and truck died and wouldn't restart until about 3 hours later.

did the old fuel pump make any pressure at all?when you replaced the pump did you have to install a new pump connector and wire it in?

Customer replied 695 days and 7 hours ago.

the GRAY wire has 12 volts for the 2 seconds then 12 volts when cranking it over?did the old fuel pump do this?

Customer replied 695 days and 7 hours ago.

there should be 12 volts at the gray wire and the black a ground.that is the power and ground for the fuel pump.do you have 12 volts at the gray wire and the black a good ground?

Customer replied 695 days and 6 hours ago.

I have bypassed the fuel pump relay (jumper) and i am able to get the pump to run but no pressure. i have checked the wiring grey +12v and black -gnd and that seems to be ok i even tightened the ground lug on the frame. could it possibly be the wires reversed?

if you had 12 volts at the BLACK and the GRAY was showing a ground then it would be wrong.but if you have 12 at the gray and that pump IS running and you have 0 fuel PSI something inside the tank is wrong or bad.did you install a complete fuel pump module assembly?or just the pump ?

Customer replied 695 days and 6 hours ago.

Installed complete fuel pump assembly twice. two different pumps from two different suppliers. same result

can you double check the wiring connector you wired in ? since the fuel lines are NOT bloacked and you hear it running and no fuel is coming out.it more than likey is wired incorrectly

Customer replied 695 days and 6 hours ago.

the new pump came with a new connector assembly and was wired color for color, pump runs but no fuel or pressure could the new harness wiring be reversed polarity from the connector and if i test this will it harm the pump?

wiring harness for that brand is reversed in connector color code was color for color, pump works now getting about 52 psi this brand is an airtek pump and i will be complaining about the wiring diagram they give you since it is reversed. no leaks looks great thanks.
