Hi,

Ok, for an used engine, you will be looking at $1700-2100 for the engine and $1000-1300 for labor, for a total of $2700-3400. The price variance is due to allowance for different labor rates depending upon where you live and price of used engine varies from the different salvage yards.

For a remanufactured engine, you will be looking at $3000 for the engine and $1000-1300 for labor.

Depending on where the used engine is bought, you have anywhere from a 90day to 1yr/12,000 mile warranty on the engine.

Remanufactured engines come with 3yr/36,000 mile warranties

Hi,

you asked for price for installing an engine in your 2001 malibu.

NO one can give you a 100% accurate price as we dont know the shop you will use and their labor rate, or where they buy their engines from and % markup they will use.

We can only give you a ballpark estimate based upon going prices for the engine as well as using an average labor rate as it varies by each shop. There is NO national guideline for parts markups or what shops can charge per hour for labor. That is for EACH shop owner to decide individually.

So, yes, the answer is indeed accurate as it can be considering we cant know a shop's policies on their parts markup and hourly labor rate.

The last one I did ran 3250, parts and labor
