2006 Chevy Impala: a loud rapid clicking noise..side dash..keys

Customer Question

2006 Chevy Impala- My a/c works fine, but when I switch it off, it makes a loud rapid clicking noise for about 4-5 min & is coming from the passerger side dash area. It sounds like something caught in a fan & is very annoying. It even does it with the car off & keys out. What is it & how do I replace it?

The part # XXXXX the actuator is 15844096.This is the GM part#.Just give the parts store this part#.The part is also available online at gmpartsdirect for cheaper than most parts stores. The first set of directions are to remove the trim panel under the right side of the dash, just 2 plastic push pins that need to be pried out.The second set is to remove the actuator, held in with 2 small screws. The glove box can be removed by simply pushing in the side panels with the door open to release the retaining tabs.

The actuator installed looking thru the opening where the
