Welcome to just I'm here to help you and your 100% satisfaction is my goal. If bypassing the starter solonoid does not work then Checked to be sure that that the battery cables are clean and tight both at the battery and where they attach to the engine and the battery is fully charged and in good condition . If all this checks out good and it still does not start then you have a faulty starter itself and it will need to be replaced

i also have purchased a heat shield for solenoid as it doesnt have one on it and it is located right next to exhaust manifold. could this be a problem?

yes excess heat can ruin a starter very quickly
