Chevrolet Silverado 1500 07 silverado replaced throttle body

Resolved Question:

07 silverado replaced throttle body now idles to fast tried relearn idle didnt work does it have to be hooked to computer to relearn idle

Hello, I'm Cam. Please include all the details about your issue so I can accurately advise you. I cannot see your vehicle so please be detailed.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Was the check engine light on when you tried it?

Customer :

the cel has not been on since cleaning throttle body

GM Tech (Cam) :

Ok, try a reset , Take the battery cables off the battery, hold the ends together for 10 seconds then attach them to the battery and see what happens. This will reset the whole vehicle.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Then try the relearn, idle for 3 mins, then watch the RPM as it should idle down a bit, turn off for over 60 seconds, start and idle for 3 mins and it should be idling normal.

did that it idles fine until u put in gear

did that also idles ok till u drive then it idles fast

Did you do a drive cycle after that?

Customer :

drove maybe mile

GM Tech (Cam) :

You may need to drive over 44 MPH and perform several decelerations to finish the learn if that did not work.

Customer :

from sat till today probely drove city and highway about 250 miles

What code was set before?

bad gas pedal

replaced gas pedal code returned cleaned throttle body code cleared dont know code number

no everything factory

OK, if after several times it does not learn then it is likely you have a bad throttle then.

Customer :

gas pedal is new

Yes but if it does not learn then something is not right. With no codes we would assume the issue is that throttle body.

Customer :

replace throttle body

I suspect so. If you bought it at a dealer then there will be warranty on it.
