1999 Chevrolet Tahoe 5.7 Clicking Noise EGR Valve

I have a 1999 chevrolet Tahoe with the 5.7 and at start up it has a clicking noise almost like a lifter pecking until its warmed up. My question is this caused by a lifter or could it possibly be from the EGR valve or something else.
