Chevrolet Impala I have code PO449 set. Iknow it has to do

This answer was rated:

I have code PO449 set. Iknow it has to do with EVAP contol soleniod. scanner shows cicuit open/ short to ground. where is this ? on top of fuel tank? what gives?

The P0449 is pointing to a fault in the Evaporative Emission Canister Vent Solenoid Valve. Check the lines between the solenois and the canister for any physical defects, check the electrical connector for any loose/broken wires. If the visual inspection checks ok, suspect a faulty solenoid (very common GM fail item).

1 - Fuel Tank
2 - Fuel Pump and Sender Assembly
3 - Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) Sensor
4 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Vent Solenoid

  • Raise and support the vehicle.
  • Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve electrical connector.
  • Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve from the EVAP emission canister hose.
  • Remove the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve bracket bolt.

  • Remove the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve.
