Fan Clutch Replacement

Removal Procedure



 

  1. Remove the cooling fan and shroud.
  2. Remove the push-pin and release the fan clutch electrical connector from the fan shroud.
  3. Remove the fan clutch from the fan shroud
  4. Remove the bolts retaining the fan blade to the fan clutch.
  5. Separate the fan blade from the fan clutch.

Installation Procedure



 

  1. Assemble the fan blade to the fan clutch.
  2. Install the 4 bolts to the fan blade.
    • Tighten the bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
  1. Install the fan clutch to the fan shroud.
  2. Install the push-pin to the fan clutch electrical connector.
  3. Install the cooling fan and shroud.

  • Tools Required
  • J 46406 Fan Clutch Remover and Installer

Removal Procedure



 

  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  3. Remove the air resonator assembly.
  4. Remove the inlet radiator hose.
  5. Remove the transmission oil cooler lines from the fan shroud.
  6. Disconnect the fan clutch electrical connector.
  7. Using J 46406 remove the fan clutch from the water pump.

 



 

  1. Remove the mounting bolts from the upper fan shroud.
  2. Lift and push the fan shroud inward to clear the filler neck on the radiator.
  3. Remove the fan and the shroud.

Installation Procedure



 

  1. Install the fan and the shroud. .
  2. Install the mounting bolts to the upper fan shroud.
    • Tighten the bolts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) .

 



 

  1. Using J 46406 install the fan clutch to the water pump
  2. Connect the fan clutch electrical connector.
  3. Install the inlet radiator hose.
  4. Install the air resonator assembly.
  5. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  6. Fill the cooling system.
