How to release a stuck parking brake on a 2004 silverado ? Handle on the inside snaped and the cable has a little slack 1-2 inches. Cant operate the truck because the brake is on!
Any idea's?
so the release handle broke?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
Yes the handle is broke and the cable has slack, There appears to be a tube where the cable goes through the dash or firewall
did the pedal come up when you attempted to release it?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
no. I tried to push it down and then hoped it would release but it just ratched down more. Is there a release at the rear brakes?
yes at the backing plates behind the rear drums that is where the ebrake cable connects it attaches to the pivot arms that apply the e brake shoes, you can disconnect t he cable there
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
so if the cable is disconnected does that release the brake?
yes it will
