2005 chevrolet impala power windows don't work. drivers side window switch "buzzes" when you press it and nothing else happens

Ok sounds like the drivers master switch has shorted out .Thats what the buzzing is .Have you tried unplugging the master switch to see if the noise goes away?

i haven't unplugged the switch, but the noise only happens when you push the button, not constantly.

yes, if you push the button all the way down to open the window it buzzes about the amount of time you would expect the auto-down feature to run and then stops. if you push the up side while it is buzzing it will stop buzzing though. definetly coming from that switch.

OK then you will need to replace the switch next.About 40 dollars for the switch .This would be the next steps.Hoped this helped.
