What is a relearn? We have NOT tried that. Can the TDM be reached without setting off the passenger airbag?

  1. Install the new, unprogrammed theft deterrent module.
  2. Insert one of the customer's ignition keys into the ignition lock cylinder.
  3. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the RUN position.
  4. Start the engine in order to verify that the system operates correctly.
  5. Observe if the SECURITY indicator lamp:
    If the lamp turns ON for about 5 seconds and then turns OFF, the programming of the new theft deterrent module is successfully completed.
    If the lamp flashes at a rate of 1 flash per second (or until the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position) and the engine starts, the programming is not complete. The new theft deterrent module did not store the resistor pellet code.
    Inspect for the following conditions before you repeat the programing procedure:
    - The theft deterrent module connector has poor terminal contact.
    - The ignition lock cylinder circuits have opens, shorts to battery, or shorts to ground
    - The resistor sensing contacts are faulty.
    - The ignition key resistor pellet is faulty.
