I have a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The back up lamps stay on and kill the battery. I pulled the fuse for the lamps and the issue is gone. The bad thing is I do not have back up lights. With the fuse gone, could it possibly be a short in th ebax causing the lights to stay on?
WElcome. THe reverse lights are controlled by the BCM, and some of these have had issues. I would first try removing the relay. See if it clicks when you remove and install it. If that happens, then the BCM is likely failing inside.

Where is the relay located?

Underhood fuse block labeled Back UP .

I'll check on that. If it is the BCM, how easy is it to replace? I have mechanical experience, but it's on aircraft not cars.

Because of the programming, you will need a dealer to replace this.

Ok. I had a feeling it would come to that. I just wanted to ask first. Thank you. I'll check the relay and go from there.
