  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Remove the accessory drive belt.
  • If necessary, remove the engine sight shield. graphic
  • Disconnect the generator electrical connector graphic
  • Slide the boot down revealing the terminal stud.
  • Remove the generator cable nut from the terminal stud
  • Remove the generator cable.graphic
  • Remove the generator bolts.

  • Remove the generator.

How do I get the new alternator beck on as well as the accessory drive belt?

Drive Belt Removal:

  1. Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the following locations:

  • The throttle body
  • The Mass Airflow/Intake Air Temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor
  1. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose clip from the outlet duct.
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct.
  3. Install a breaker bar with hex-head socket to the drive belt tensioner bolt.

  4. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise in order to relieve tension on the belt.graphic

  5. Remove the belt from the pulleys and the drive belt tensioner.

  6. Slowly release the tension on the drive belt tensioner.

  7. Remove the breaker bar and socket and from the drive belt tensioner bolt.

  8. Clean and inspect the belt surfaces of all the pulleys.

Alternator Installation:

  • Install the generator.
  • Install the generator bolts.
  • Install the generator cable.
  • Install the generator cable nut to the terminal stud.
  • Slide the boot over the terminal stud.
  • Connect the generator electrical connector

  • If necessary, install the engine sight shield.

  • Install the accessory drive belt.

  • Connect the negative battery cable.
