Can you reset the security system in a 2000 camaro?
Year : 2000Make : ChevroletYear (other) : 2000Model : Camaro CoupeEngine : V6
My wifes car will not turn over on the first time, the security light goes on then you need to wait for it to go off and try again. We have disconnected the battery and it started up but last night the issue came back. She lost her alarm remote.
here is the proper relearn procedure , try this
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (the vehicle will not start). 3. Observe the Security telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1-4 two more times, for a total of 3 cycles and 30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. Important: The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. One must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. (The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password.) 7. Using a scan tool, clear any DTCs.
If this does not work can we completly disconnect the security system all together? We will try this and I will let you know later today around 2 PM est when I get out of work. Thanks for the help Sean
