If you spray starting fluid into the air intake will it try to start?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
No, just keeps cranking. I forgot that I did that. We also hooked it up to a OBD2 scanner and it isnt throwing any codes
Expert:  ZZDaryl replied 7 years ago.
If it will not fire when you spray starting fluid into the air intake it must have no or weak spark, You might check the spark again on more than one cylinder and maybe try the starting fluid again just to be sure.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
I checked it at each coil pack, end of each wire, and each plug. good spark on all. gone through 2 cans of starting fluid
Expert:  ZZDaryl replied 7 years ago.
I does not fire at all? Or back fire? How big is the spark off the coils?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
It just recently backfired when i tried to start it the other day. I checked it with a inline spark plug tester
Expert:  ZZDaryl replied 7 years ago.
If there is really no firing or consistent back firing the problem must be a timing problem so that would be the next thing to check.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Well it has a 1 month old timing chain on it. changed by a mechanic
Expert:  ZZDaryl replied 7 years ago.
When did this problem start?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
well the timing chain broke and we had it changed, it was fine for about a month and my mom said it started running like crap, said it stalled but started back up. then she said it stalled the next day and wouldnt start at all
Expert:  ZZDaryl replied 7 years ago.

It still sounds like either a timing problem or weak spark, you might try the spark tester on a vehicle that runs to see if the spark looks the same.

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Already ruled the spark out. Tested it on another car to make sure it was working right. same brightness of light.
Expert:  ZZDaryl replied 7 years ago.
Then timing really is the only thing left to check, maybe something came apart from the previous repair.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
well i took the timing chain cover and the valve cover off and everything is working fine
Expert:  ZZDaryl replied 7 years ago.
Then aligning the marks should be easy to check.
