How do you change the oil pressure sending unit(switch) on a 2003 Chevy Suburban 2WD. Have part and need the info...what about the special socket too?

Already Tried:
Asking local,trusted mechanic on why the oil pressure guage goes from 0-80 in an instant and the back and forth.

Can you tell me if you have the 5.3L or the 4.8L v8?

Ok. You will need a special socket - "Oil Pressure Switch Socket" - this tool can either be rented from a local parts store (ie. AutoZone) Free with deposit, or purchased for around $15 +/-

 

Removal Procedure

  • If necessary, remove the engine sight shield.graphic
  • Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connectorgraphic
  • Using Oil Pressure Switch Socket, remove the oil pressure sensor.
