1990 corvette: The symtom is like a dead battery or bad starter

Resolved Question:

My 1990 corvette will not start sometimes. The symtom is like a dead battery or bad starter. The only way I have found to get around this probleum is just wait about 5 minutes and then it starts. Locking the car up and unlocking with the key did not work. This is an intermitten probleum. We think the security system is doing this.
Thank You, John

Hi, Welcome to Just Answer!

This is a classic description of a failing starter. 99% of the time replacing the starter will cure this problem.

You can prove it by using a multi-meter to test for battery voltage at the "s" terminal on the starter when it will not start(and holding the key in start position). If you see battery voltage at the "s" terminal with the key in the start position then the starter needs to be replaced.

This intermittant condition of not starting is normal for a failing starter.
