I'll be happy to assist you. are we dealing with an automatic or a manual transmission?

Automatic. 2.2 L Actally, the only thing that looks bad is tthe rubber bushing that fit over the shift linkage, but I don't think you can get just thatm so I presume I need to change out the whole cable.

I appologize, I cannot locate a removal and replacement procedure for the automatic transmission. I will opt out and let another expert have a go at this one.

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the console. See: Body and Frame\Interior Moulding / Trim\Console\Service and Repair\Console Replacement

  1. Disconnect the cable ends from the shifter.

  1. Remove the forward cable from the anchor.

  1. Remove the reverse cable from the anchor.

  1. On the transmission end, disconnect the forward cable end from the shift actuator.

  1. Disconnect the reverse cable from the shift actuator.

  1. Remove both cables from the underhood cable bracket.
  2. Position aside the passenger front carpet.

  1. Remove the rear floor duct elbow.

  1. Separate the grommet from the floor plan.
  2. Pull the cables through the passenger floor opening.

Installation Procedure

  1. Feed the cable assembly through the passenger floor pan opening.

  1. Install the grommet flush with the floor opening.

  1. Install the rear floor right side elbow duct.
  2. Position and install the passenger side carpet.

  1. Install the cables into the underhood bracket.

  1. Connect the reverse cable to the shift actuator.

  1. Connect the forward cable to the sift actuator.

  1. Install the reverse cable to the anchor.

  1. Install the forward cable to the anchor.

  1. Connect the cables to the shifter.
  2. Install the console.
  3. Connect the battery.
