Welcome. Does the center of the AC compressor turn smoothly with smooth resistance at intervals as it turns?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

Seems to turn smoothe with some resistance . Ac is cold. cycles on and off. the belt tensioner for the compressor bounces more then when the ac is off. With the ac button off (led out) and the recirculation button on the ac still kicks on.

OK, a bouncing belt does indicate a valve issue in the compressor. These are a 5 cylinder compressor and one valve will cause a system imbalance which causes the belt to bounce abnormally. You will need a compressor to correct this issue.

Can the compressor be replaced without flushing the system or is it contaminated ? Does GM use any inline filters to prevent contamination due to compressor failures?

Thank you

It is recommended to flush the system, and yes, GM has filter kits to install in both sides of the system to prevent any debris from getting back into the new compressor.
