timing on chevy Lumina 3.1 there are no marks is it keyway to keyway

Hello! I assume you are installing a timing chain on a 3.1L engine? What year are you working on?

1995 CHevy Lumina 3.1 we are rebuiling the motor we put the crank and the cam and piston in now were getting ready for the oil pump and timing chain we need to no there are no timning mark so will it go keyway to keyway

No, not keyway to keyway. There should be three oval holes and one round hole in the cam gear. The round hole is the alignment mark. It should line up with a small notch in the top of the chain dampner.

the crank gear should have a tiny dimple in it, and it should line up with a small notch in the bottom of the chain dampner.


If you look at the picture below, that puts the cam keyway at about 3 o'clock and the crank keyway at about 10:30 or 11 o'clock
