  • Open and support the hood.
    Object Number: 729502  Size: SH

  • Remove the cover from the underhood electrical center.
  • Remove the bolt retaining the underhood electrical center to the upper tie bar.

  • Rotate and remove the electrical center from the right sheet metal diagonal brace.
  •

  • Remove the hood rear seal part way to gain access to the wiper drive system module cover retainers.
  • Remove the wiper drive system module cover from the pinchweld flange.
  • Remove the wiper drive system module cover from the engine compartment.
  •

  • Remove the bolt from the rear hole in the front end sheet metal diagonal brace at the wheelhouse.
  • Remove the bolts from the front of the front end sheet metal diagonal brace at the upper tie bar.
  • Remove the front end sheet metal diagonal brace from the engine compartment.
  •  

  • Remove the battery ground (negative) cable from the battery.
  • Remove the battery positive cable from the battery.

  • Remove the battery hold down retainer.

    Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees.

  • Remove the battery.

  • Remove the battery insulator from the battery.
  • Installation Procedure

    1. Install the battery insulator to the battery.
      Object Number: 161292  Size: SH

      Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees.

    2. Install the battery and ensure that the battery is positioned properly in the battery tray.
    3. Install the battery hold down retainer.
    4. Install the battery hold down retainer bolt.

      Tighten
      Tighten the bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

    5. Install the battery positive cable and bolt to the battery.

      Tighten
      Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

    6. Install the battery ground (negative) cable to the battery.
