Try removing and reinstalling (10 amp) RADIO fuse.This may reset the cd player.

I already ready tried this - it is a CD player issue - I thought possibly there was an override to eject switch

There is no override button. Removal of the radio and physically removing the top panel will give access to the cd mechanism. You may be able to carefully manually remove the cd.
