The daytime running light diode is a common failure on these trucks. It is located under the drivers side of the dash.

The daytime running lamps (DRL) diode consists of a black aluminum case with fins. The diode attaches to the instrument panel (IP) harness behind the left side of the IP.

  1. Ensure that the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Ensure that the headlamp switch is in the OFF position.

  3. Remove the bolt that retains the DRL diode from the lower IP reinforcement.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  5. Remove the DRL diode from the vehicle.
  6. Connect a jumper wire across the terminals of the diode connector, if the daytime running lights work replace the diode.
