2002 chevy s10: I put a little gas..Checked fuel pressure..sensors

This answer was rated:

I have a 2002 chevy s10 that wont start unless I put a little gas in the throtlle valve. Checked fuel pressure, only at 40 lbs until started then goes up to 55-60 lbs. would this be a pump problem or could it be a problem with sensors?

  • Turn OFF all accessories.
  • Install the fuel pressure gage.
  • Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Thanks for the quick answer. Will the low fuel pressure cause it not to start at all?
Yes or make it hard to start. fuel pressure real critical on these trucks. it needs have all the pressure it can get to get it started, depending on what the pressure is once started it can run with below spec, may or may notice some running problems
