Need to change the ignition switch on a GMC 2003 Sierra truck.

Need to change the ignition switch on a GMC 2003 Sierra truck. It is a 6 cylnder w 4.3l sfi. There was no dash lights when you turn over key. i think that is the problem. Please help setting on side of road now. Thank you Roger

Nothing at all when i turn key. When I bought the truck in 2003. It did the same thing .

I need to know how to change ignition switch on GMC Sierra truck 2003,2wd.

Ok. You don't need to remove the steering wheel, you only need to remove the tilt lever, and any screws in the lower trim. Here are the directions. A small screwdriver will release the switch.

Removal Procedure

Object Number:(NNN) NNN-NNNN Size: SH

  1. Insert a small screwdriver into the lock cylinder housing to release the tabs on the ignition switch.
  2. Pull the ignition switch out of the lock cylinder housing.
  3. Disconnect the connector from the ignition switch.
  4. The timing of the switch is VERY important. When you take the old switch out, compare the position of the gear and set the new one. Good luck.
