#07-07-30-006: Information on Control Solenoid Valve and Transmisison Control Solenoid Module Assembly Cleaning Procedure for Various Six-Speed HYDRA-MATIC Automatic Transmissions when MIL/DTCs Set - (Mar 27, 2007)
SI diagnostics for many of the performance DTCs that can be set by these transmissions direct that control solenoid valve and transmission control solenoid module assembly cleaning should be performed as part of circuit/system testing.
Perform the Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Cleaning in an attempt to clean or free up a potential sticking valve of dirt or debris for the following DTCs :
The control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly cleaning procedure is a specific software based routine, which resides in the TCM. This procedure is activated by the scan tool and is used to cycle the solenoids and valves in the control solenoid valve assembly in an attempt to dislodge debris and free up the valves after a performance diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has set. When the cleaning procedure is completed, the DTC enable criteria should be run again to see if the DTC concern has been corrected.
#PIP4302: DTC P0751 P0756 P0776 P0P96 P2714 P2723 Harsh TCC Engagement - keywords chuggle code converter shudder TCC - (Dec 20, 2007)
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may comment on a transmission concern where the MIL is illuminated and any of the above listed DTCs may be found in the TCM as active or history codes. They may also comment on harsh TCC engagement and debris may be found in the transmission oil pan.
If diagnosis leads to transmission removal inspect the torque converter face for signs of a high temperature witness mark as shown in the photo below. This witness mark will continue 360 degrees around the face of the converter and be blue / black in color.
If this condition is found please contact TAC at the number you have been provided. Do not disassemble the transmission beyond removal of the oil pan.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
#PIP4377: DTC P0722 or P0756 Seat As Well As DTC P2723 - keywords body oss sensor shift slip speed valve - (Mar 28, 2008)
Some customers may comment on a transmission concern where the MIL is illuminated and DTC P0722 or P0756 along With DTC P2723 may be found in the TCM as active or history codes.
Condition 1: DTC P0722 is set along with DTC P2723. Under certain driving conditions it is possible for DTC P2723 to set as a result of an output speed sensor (oss) fault. Follow SI diagnostics for DTC P0722 first and repair any oss related concerns prior to addressing DTC P2723.
Condition 2: DTC P0756 set along with P2723. Under certain driving conditions it is possible for DTC P2723 to set as a result of the mode 3 valve being stuck off. Follow SI diagnostics for DTC P0756 first prior to addressing DTC P2723.

This PI Supersedes To Add Models. Please Discard PIP4184A.
Some customers may comment on a transmission concern where the MIL is illuminated and any of the above listed DTCs may be found in the TCM as active or history codes.
Perform the following service procedures:
P0756 - Clutch select valve 3 (352) (closer to the manual valve) in the lower valve body (307).
P0776 - 3-5-R clutch regulator valve (336) in the upper valve body (321).
P0796 - CBR1/4-5-6 clutch regulator valve (327) in the upper valve body (321).
P2714 - 2-6 clutch regulator valve (334) in the upper valve body (321).
P2723 - 1-2-3-4 clutch regulator valve (337) in the upper valve body (321).`
I don't think this addresses the retaining ring problem. If I missed something please let me know.
I am sorry but I cannot find anything close to those trouble codes or doc ID number (when that doc ID number is XXXXX in it says either discontinued or not valid).
