99 chevy tahoe: oem..alternator-100 amp-replaced..whine

Resolved Question:

99 chevy tahoe-oem alternator-100 amp-replaced with 160 amp drop in alternator with no modifications necessary. Why am I getting a whine? Please don't just guess.

The whine is through the radio? Check the battery ground and the body ground tighten as necessary

The whine is mainly coming from under the hood. It can be heard when you accelerate and when you drive by something and hear it bouncing off the object. The original alternator I removed didn't have the whine-just wanted more amperage when running the ac, etc.

Remove the drive belt and spin the alternator pulley see if the alt has a loose bearing causing the noise .Sorry it took so long I am moving
