1999 chevy s10: a crank kit in it and put it..distributor..wont start

hi i have a 1999 chevy s10 4.3 vortec and i just put a crank kit in it and put it all together and i set the distributor in where i thought was tdc it has two lne on the balancer and i dont know which one to go by it started and ran once i shut it off then tryed to start it again but it wont start. so im thinking im off on the timing but these 2 marks have got me confused can you explain how to set that distributor in and which mark on the balancer do i go bythe first or the second thank you,confused

how did it run when it was running

1 is tdc note 4 is other mark on crankshaft

if the engine was running good before you cleaned throttle body you may have fouled plugs you may have to remove them and clean them

set crank at tdc and with dis. cap off point rotor at number one on cap look at cap carfuly becouse number one plug end you will need to follow on cap to term .after you put dis in this is where the rotor will end up

ok so when i get tdc i seem to get compression between the first line and the second line wich line do i wanna use
