96 chevy cavalier: theft light..car wont start..disable..1 to 6 volts

Resolved Question:

help i have 96 chevy cavalier          theft light is on car wont start,          how can i disable it             i see the wires wrapped around the key tumbler side, three of them in bundle , another site said one of them is 1 to 6 volts positive , another is not used and then another is black negative. only there is two black and one whie in the bundle.

Ok this does sound as though you have a serious theft system problem. The only way to diagnose this problem requires a class 2 scan tool that can read body failure codes such as the theft system. There is a relearn you can try to basically reset the problem, but it doesn't always work and that is where the special scan tool allows for you to actually see what is failing. Here is the proper way to do the relearn. Feel free to contact me with any questions, problems, or if you prefer a second opinion! Good luck!

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes (the vehicle is now ready to relearn the PasslockTM Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK).

    Important: The vehicle learns the PasslockTM Sensor Data Code and/or password XXXXX the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.

  6. Start the engine (the vehicle has now learned the PasslockTM Sensor Data Code and/or password).
