Put my 99 chev 3500 non dually 2wd truck. in a repair shop for front brakes and replacing an upper ball joint. They are saying they also need to replace or install a new camber plug on the same side as the new ball joint to get it to align properly. they say if not it will pull to one side...does this sound correct?
Hello, unfortunately what they are saying is true. When the truck was built, GM spot welded the camber and caster adjusting eccentrics so that the adjustments could not be changed. When replacing front end parts, especially ball points, the caster and camber will change and need to be adjusted. The only way to do so, is to cut the old eccentrics off and install a new adjustable set that comes in a kit especially made for doing this job. They really are being truthful with you. Thanks
