Hi Kevin,

These are standard sized bolts. I don't think you should use anything but the correct bolts. You can get a set from any parts place, they are fairly standard. There are 2 different sets. One set has a short bolt and the other set use 3 long bolts.

These bolts are knurled around the shaft to allow them to function as a centering device/shim when tightened down. If you use a regular bolt, you will not center/shim the starter and you will wind up destroying your ring gear or starter drive. Probably both.
