When I try to TEXT, the message comes up SEND FAILURE. And,

When I try to TEXT, the message comes up SEND FAILURE. And, when I try to call out, the message is CALL ENDED. What do I do.
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact make and model of your machine?
Customer: Where do I find that information? I am on vacation and did not bring any material with me that has such detail. I have had it quite a while. The top says ATT and the phone itself says ALCATEL. Is there something inside I should look for?
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Just this morning it started. I checked tools to see if anything was "off" and everything says "on". I had to change it yesterday to Flight Mode, but used it last night at some length.
JA: Anything else you want the phone expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Those are the two things I use the most. I do not have any apts or new stuff like that. I am old and don't need the fancy stuff yet, but am thinking about buying a new phone. Thanks.
