I am Samuel let me see if I can help.
I am finding a solution.
Does the other person have an Iphone?
Had your same problem on S4. Discovered that there is a Spam folder in the SMS folder which can register contacts and then block SMSs from them. To see if this is the case goto your list of SMSs. hit the menu button (to the left of the home button). There should be an option 'Spam Messages'. If you see messages here it means that possibly you have some contacts marked as spam. To check it out, hit the menu button again. Select the last option 'Settings'. Scroll till the very bottom of the list to find 'Spam message settings' and check out the lists under 'Spam Numbers'.
I think they got rid of that with an update. What message app do you use?
Try going into the apps and find the message app. Clear cache clear data
Delete all his contacts and re enter them?
Also it was suggested you clear cache/data from settings /apps/contacts. and reboot the phone.
I won't be around much longer but let me know the results please.
This one should not be this hard. We will over come it!
We will get it working (but the s3 is a little tiny bit old) :)
I will talk with you later!
