tried to do an HTC sync and it failed due to a debug error thingie and now have lost all my contacts.....have deleted facebook now so that I could get all those cluttering names out of the way and hopefully not confuse the phone's People list.I have an HTC Inspire
Hello! I would be glad to assist you today.
Which OS is on your computer?
Has the Android OS on your phone been upgraded recently?
Regards,
Trent
windows 7. have not upgraded phone OS to my knowledge
On your computer, do you have iTunes installed?
If so, is your iTunes music folder also located in the "My Music" folder that your HTC Sync software uses?
Also, do you have Adobe AIR installed on your computer? You can check that under "installed programs" in the control panel, accessible from the Start menu.
Sorry to bombard you with questions, just trying to eliminate some of the common problems with HTC Sync.
yes, I have iTunes. Actually, I never play music on my phone because I have an iPod but for an experiment last night after I plugged my phone in with usb for the first time ever I did try to move a photo from my pictures folder and one song from my music folder --both of which have disappeared from the phone folder today.I was asked to install Adobe Air on my pc so I could download books (which is how all this crap started in the first place) and I thought i did it correctly but it is not on my list of installed programs. but, when I type in Adobe AIR this loader.css is on the top of the list and I think I remember seeing that somewhere in all the crap that was on the screen periodically during my whole phone crises saga
If there is an iTunes music subfolder in your My Music folder, go ahead and move that out of the folder.
A lot of people have had trouble with Adobe AIR and HTC Sync.
Where were you searching that the "loader.css" showed up?
Have you tried uninstalling HTC Sync from your computer, then reinstalling by downloading the latest version from here?

took iTunes our of My Music Folder and put it on my desktop. Is that okay?
found adobe AIR in programs but didn't not find it when I typed it into the search bar at teh start button....anyway, I uninstalled that now.
My son did an uninstall of the HTC sync earlier, reinstalled with updates, and then uninstalled again after that didn't do anything but cause more frustration
I have no idea what I was doing when I noticed the loader.css last night. I was pretty much just trying anything randomly out of sheer anger
why would any of this have removed all my contacts?
Yep, the desktop is a fine place.
Now that Adobe AIR is uninstalled, go ahead and also uninstall HTC Sync, reboot your computer and reinstall the Sync app.
The latest version of Sync should have Adobe AIR with it, I think your problem came about after installing a different version of Adobe AIR that the Sync app was not happy with.
Keep me posted. Hopefully this works!
I'm not sure why this would have removed the contacts, the only thing I can think of is that the Sync app needed AIR to function properly and without the proper version it just hiccuped.
how do I get you specifically if I want more advice/help with this issue or with HTC phone in general?
I rated you informative and helpful but it's hard to say it got the job done before actually rebooting PC and reinstalling etc......
There's no rush to rate, we can keep the question open here and you can "accept" the answer when we get the issue resoled. When you ask a question in the future you can request a certain expert. So that shouldn't be a problem.
If this doesn't resolve the problem we can always do a little more digging to see what we can do.
Thanks!
reinstalling included installing Adobe Air as step one (the update states that you need it and it's right there so I did; but it is not packaged with the upgrade itself) but even after the reinstall I still don't have my "people" list back. Soooo, and you might find this rather amusing, I re-synced with Facebook thinking that at least I would get back some family and close friends and those are the exact people that did not come back when I synced with Facebook.........however, I now have the address, phone numbers and cell phone numbers of people in the Philippines and Taiwan that were "friends" for FB game purposes. So, that'll be real handy if I find myself stranded in Bangkok or Bacolod City in the Philippines........LOL
I plan on starting over with adding contacts but I am concerned about the syncing thing with Google because I'm not sure I trust that after this fiasco and I'm not even sure how to do that. Do they save the contacts in your gmail account or is there a special place for HTC contacts?
Also, just so you know, I already paid justask and I thought rating you paid you. If I need to do something else I cannot find it on this site.....which is actually a crappy site because it keeps opening more pages when you click on links.
I'm glad to hear that it worked out!
The contacts in your phone should be saved to your synced Google account.
As far as payment, you made a deposit to justanswer on your account but that money doesn't get paid out unless the expert gets a 4 or 5 (smiley face) rating from you. So I haven't been paid yet. Once I post this as an "answer", you should be able to rate it then, and then the payment will be distributed. This site can be a bit buggy and hard to follow at times.
Thanks a lot and let me know if there is anything else I can do for you!
