My iPhone 4's screen has gone completely black. When I press the sleep button, the screen is displayed but it turns blank again within a second.. Under the light I am able to view the faint icons and screen but not to the normal extent.
I have tried resetting the phone by pressing the sleep button and home button simultaneously..
I have also done a hard reset through itunes. Software restore has been tried. But still I am unable to view the screen. Its' all black.

Hi, and thanks for using JustAnswer.

Add this page to your Favorites/Bookmarks first, so as to get back to me anytime later on, if needed.

Your iPhone has experienced hardware failure and will need to be serviced.

Is your iPhone still under warranty?
Customer reply replied 5 years ago.
No it is not. Would its' display need to be changed then?
Cell Tech, Cell Technician replied 5 years ago.
Let's try to reset the iPhone first.

-Unplug the iPhone from the USB cable connection.
-Press and Hold the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons UNTIL the Apple Logo appears (about 15 seconds OR longer).

It should reboot and resume normal operation.

Reply back if that does not work.

I tried that.. The Apple logo does appear briefly but the screen blacks out again. I am still unable to view the screen

Has this iPhone been jailbroken?

Try this next-

While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or battery symbol appears. If the battery symbol appears, continue to charge iPhone until it is fully charged.

How did that work out?
Customer reply replied 5 years ago.
Yes the phone was Jailbroken.

I tried that out. It didn't work as well.

Sounds like it's bricked.

I'll opt out for now.

I do receive calls and texts on the phone and do hear the sound when charging. I think the display might be the issue.
