My 5yr old American short hair has developed snuffles , sneezing and one eye is runny. I have 2 other cats in the house. Both are well. Bella's ears are clean and cool, so I don't think she has fever. Should I wait this out? She had this before and it cleared up in 3-4 days.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the cat's name?
Customer: Bella
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Bella?
Customer: No. She is a healthy, chubby 5yr old dsh.

Thank you.

So most likely she has an upper respiratory tract infection which is a "cold."

Normally it resolves on its own in 7-10 days.

If she is sneezing a lot, or she has nasal congestion, you can buy some human nasal saline drops. Put one drop in each nostril twice a day to help flush out mucous and soothe irritated nasal passages.

When you take a shower bring her into the bathroom and steam out her respiratory tract.

You can also give her 1/4 of a 10mg Zyrtec tablet every 24 hours for sneezing. That is an over the count human antihistamine.

Keeping a humidifier in the room can help as well.

Signs she should see a vet are:

Not eating for 24 hours

Yellow nasal or eye drainage

Lots of open mouth breathing

Wheezing

Severe lethargy

But normally an upper respiratory tract infection resolves in 7-10 days.

Some times my keyboard doesn't work very well because one of my cats barf's on it.

You are very welcome.

Warm her food to make it more fragrant. Cats do not eat well if they can not smell their food.

And add warm water or low sodium broth to her food to help increase fluid intake.

Yikes. The key board is not a good place of a hairball episode. ; )
