Spayed 13 yr old female cat. Constantly has loose stools.

Customer Question

Spayed 13 yr old female cat. Constantly has loose stools. Occasionally throws up liquid. Pulling her hair out. Coat looks terrible. Has a mournful cry before going to litter box.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did the cat eat anything unusual?
Customer: No. This has actually been going on for a long time.
JA: OK. The Veterinarian will know what to do. What is the cat's name?
Customer: Ellie
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Ellie?
Customer: One other thing, occasionally has blood in her stool. Otherwise, her behavior seems to be ok. Sometimes I do think she doesn't feel good.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.

Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner, but can you tell me:

How long has she been showing signs?

What does her diarrhea look like?

Has she had any tests done on her stools? Any treatments?

Has she been drinking more?

Are her gums pink or white/pale? Moist or sticky?
