My cat is sluggish and does not eat. Doesn't drink much

Customer Question

My cat is sluggish and does not eat. Doesn't drink much water either. He has experienced a few close relationships lately and appears to be depressed.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Veterinarian will know how to help your cat. What is the cat's name and age?
Customer: His name is sonny He's about 12 years old.
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about sonny?
Customer: No. He was a house cat for years then I let him out for a few years but something scared him about a year ago and he wouldn't go back outside except to set on the porch when I did. He is declawed in the front and very gentle and loving.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.

How long has he had these signs?

Any gagging, retching, lip licking, drooling or vomiting?

Any changes in his breathing or wa he seeming sore when he ate?

Can he keep water down?

Are his gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?

If you press on his belly, any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?

Could he have eaten something he should not have (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, etc)?

Any diarrhea?

Thanks for your help but he passed away last night. I truly believe he was depressed and broken hearted.
