She is 18 yrs. and her coat which used to be shiny and sleek

Customer Question

she is 18 yrs. and her coat which used to be shiny and sleek is now matted and dull. She has lost weight, however she has a good appetite and still likes to be held and loved. Her claws on her back feet do not retract. I know she is old, but I don't want her to suffer and so far she doesn't seem to be.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the cat's name?
Customer: Skeeter
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Skeeter?
Customer: She is current on vaccinations and I have been feeding canned food to try to get weight back on her.

Hello, this is Dr. Jess. I am sorry to hear about Skeeter.

Can you tell me, has she had any vomiting or diarrhea?

Is she drinking more than usual?

Is she having any urinary accidents?

Can you look at her gums and tell me if they are pink or pale in color?
