She's been a bit sleepy today more than usual, checked BS

Customer Question

Hi. She's been a bit sleepy today more than usual, checked BS and it is 168. She gets lantus insulin twice a day, 3 units. Should I give insulin now per usual, give less, or skip it?
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Veterinarian will know how to help the cat. What is the cat's name?
Customer: Rosie
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Rosie?
Customer: Can't think of anything else. My vet is closed of course, this late.

Can you tell me a bit more so I can better advise you? Has Rosie eaten normally today? Any vomiting?

Do I get any response or is this it?

Hello, sorry for the delay...I am typing a response momentarily...

If Rosie ate at least half of her normal dinner, it would be fine to give her normal dose of insulin. If she is still feeling poorly tomorrow, I advise checking in with your vet. Diabetic cats are more prone to bladder infections. They also can occasionally need adjustments to their dose of insulin over time even though they have no outward changes in weight or obvious physical signs.
