I noticed that my cat (a bobtail) has had some hair and skin

Customer Question

hi. I noticed that my cat (a bobtail) has had some hair and skin loss on the back side of his leg close to his tail. What could it be?
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Did your cat have a fall?
Customer: no
JA: The Veterinarian will ask you more detailed questions to find out what is causing this. It might be a fracture. The Veterinarian will know what to do. What is the cat's name and age?
Customer: bubby and he is 7
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about bubby?
Customer: no not really - just the typical cat.

My name is***** and I am sorry to hear that your kitty is having hair loss. What did you mean by skin loss in your initial question?

Hair loss in kitties can be from several different things-

-allergies leading to itchy skin and over grooming

-excessive licking of an area due to pain in the area (common with belly licking and bladder infections)

-flea allergies

-over grooming by another cat in house

-ringworm (uncommon in adult cats)

-mange (very uncommon in adult cats)

Does this help? What other questions do you have?

How is your kitty? Were you able to talk to your vet about the different causes of hair loss in cats?
