Customer Question

My 8 year old female feline has a cough... it's raspy, not deep, almost like a sneeze.. I've been giving her sovereign silver hydrosol from a dropper. Any other suggestions. Thank you.

Hi. This is Dr. Hill. Sorry your kitty is not feeling well. A cough can be due to allergies, respiratory irritation, asthma, parasites or congestive heart failure. If her breathing appears to be normal then it is unlikely to be heart disease. I would not recommend give the silver hydrosol. You can try some lysine supplements or treats to help if it is a viral respiratory infection. If the coughing persists, she needs to be seen by your local veterinarian for a physical exam and a fecal. They may recommend X-rays of her chest depending on how she sounds. Hope this helps. Feel free to send additional questions. take care.
