My 12 year old male Blue-Russian cat is meowing and looking

Customer Question

My 12 year old male Blue-Russian cat is meowing and looking at me for help. He has food and water. He is allowed to go outside. It is very hot here--a heat index of over 100 degrees.
He stayed out for several hours yesterday. He also is squatting and trying to pee in inappropriate places (such as my purse) which he has never done before. It looks as if he can't urinate.

Hi! I'mCustomerand I can help with your question.

Expert:  CalCatDoc replied 10 months ago.

Has he been eating normally today? Any vomiting?

Hello?

Expert:  CalCatDoc replied 10 months ago.

I would normally opt out and let somebody else handle this since you don't appear to be online.

But in this case it is quite possible that Buddy has a life-threatening emergency. Male cats with frequent attempts to urinate often have a partial or complete urinary obstruction, which is fatal if not treated.

So I recommend that you take him this evening (Do not wait until tomorrow) to your nearest veterinary emergency facility to get him evaluated.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need further clarification. I will be available this evening for a couple more hours.

Good luck!
