Customer Question

My almost five year old cat has been vomiting white foam for a couple of days, a couple times per day. Today, he started vomiting yellow liquid. He is still drinking water and eating. I can't figure out if he's urinating and defecating normally, because I have two brother kitties and they use the same box. Should I make a vet appointment?

My "watchful waiting" period is 72 hours for these cats. While his continued good appetite should belie serious metabolic disorders, his persistent - if episodic - regurgitation/vomiting needs to be investigated at this time. An abdominal ultrasound looking for a foreign body or trichobezoar (a nasty form of hairball) as well as inflammatory changes in his gastrointestinal tract is likely to be the most valuable diagnostic. I understand how you're feeling. Once he's properly examined you'll have a better idea of what's going on which is always better than continuing to worry.
