Customer Question

My cat is about 2 years old he hasnt eaten any cat food in o,?a week. I Purina cat food but this time I bought 9lives. I figured maybe he didnt like the food and thats why he wasnt eating it so we tried feeding him canned cat food, tuna fish from the can, both he really enjoys, but he refuses to eat anything. He isnt drinking water either. He's lost alot of weight and he isnt active at all. He's not himself at all. We can tell something is wrong. Should we bring him to the vet or is there any advice you have that may help?

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your situation, and wanted to help.

Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner. If you would still like assistance, can you tell me:

How long has he been showing signs?

Any retching, gagging, lip licking, drooling, vomiting, or diarrhea?

Any changes to his breathing?

Are his gums nice and pink (not white/pale)? Moist or sticky?

If you press on his belly, does he have any tensing, tenderness, discomfort, or pain?

Could he have eaten anything he should not have (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, human meds, etc)?
