Customer Question

My cat was seen by our vet last week for continued diarrhea. He gave her a cortisone shot and sent us home with oral prednisone......she is now sneezing very frequntly and has runny eyes.....does Prednisone decrease infection resistance in cats as it can in humans?

Hello,

This is Dr. KV. I'm here to help with your kitty. Sorry to hear that she is sick. Upper respiratory infections can be caused by multiple things...sometimes stress alone can cause an outbreak. Prednisone is a general immune supressant, so yes, it can contribute to infections.
