Have Cat Questions? Ask a Cat Vet Online.
Hello. My name is***** have been a veterinarian for 11 years. Rabbits tend to have bowel movements regularly, so if Vanilla Milk Shake is not producing stool, then this is a problem. What kind of food does Vanilla Milk Shake eat?
Some rabbits can develop a bezoar (a hard concretion) or trichobezoar (a hair filled hard concretion) in the stomach or intestines and this can cause ileus (a slowing of the intestinal tract). When this happens, they often will stop eating and defecating (having bowel movements). You can give some pineapple juice orally which can help break up the concretion.
Some of the best diet information available for rabbits is available at the San Diego House Rabbit Society website: http://www.sandiegorabbits.org/rabbit-care/diet
Here is a link to their food pyramid, which can be very helpful: http://www.sandiegorabbits.org/sites/default/files/content/page/images/Rabbit_Food_Pyramid_July08.pdf
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I would recommend going to your primary care veterinarian as soon as possible. If you don't have a veterinarian yet (or specifically one that sees veterinarians), you can search for one at the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians website: http://www.aemv.org/index.php/find-an-aemv-vet
