My cat has hyperesthesia and it's getting worse. He has a gabapentin

Customer Question

My cat has hyperesthesia and it's getting worse. He has a gabapentin rx, but it's not really helping (he was on it a few years ago, and then started doing better and went off it -- he got it again a little over a month ago, but it hasn't helped). What can I do?

Alyx, I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Hyperesthesia can be a challenge to manage properly unless we can clarify why it has arisen. I need you to review the link below and then return to our conversation with additional information and further questions or concerns. You'll read that we prescribe quite a variety of drugs in some cases as "trial therapy" to help us pinpoint why the hyperesthesia has arisen. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=2873
