In cats, ingestion of tea tree oil can cause vomiting, diarrhea, central nervous system depression, liver toxicity, and aspiration pneumonia. Dermal absorption of the tea tree oil can result in paresis (weakness), ataxia ("drunken sailor"), weakness, and hypothermia lasting 1-3 days. Bathing these cats, replacing their fluid deficit with supplemental fluids, and maintaining a normal body temperature is indicated. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
